    Values

Our values are a huge part of our culture, in how we think about, approach and do things. It’s about the values we believe in, that bring us together as a team and as a company.

In recent years the environment in which we operate has become more uncertain, complex and ambiguous. To thrive in this ecosystem and to achieve the greatest things, where change is constant, there are basic principles we need to infuse into our culture and internalise both as an organisation, and as individuals when working autonomously to help us succeed individually and collectively.

While we aim to always give the best we can, we understand we are humans, and each of us has ups and downs both personally and professionally.

We strive to create an environment which supports everyone both at their peaks and at their lows.

Although we have a common purpose and we are working for the same goals. We are different. It doesn’t matter how you look like, where are you from and what you believe in. Differences actually make us stronger.

However inclusion doesn’t come lightly. To achieve it and to operate as least biased as possible. We all have to work for it together.

We are a small team now, aiming for developing superior quality, remarkable and world-class products. We are still a startup, transitioning into scaling up our product and organisation.

Two of our main activities now are refining our approach and delivering expert solutions that drive real business change. Competition influences all of these. Most of the startups actually die in this phase. That is the reason why we need to be so conscious of why delivery and shipping is so important in the current lifecycle.

It is critical to gain and sustain continuous growth in alignment with user needs, to operate with the sense of urgency and to move fast, with strong focus on what matters most, until we get to that stage of stability when delivery will not be the most emphasised driver.

We hold ourselves accountable & responsible as individuals, as a team & as a company. We take initiative to fix issues and move forward, while owning our losses as much as our wins.

We have an attitude of accepting responsibility of our work and taking control of how it develops. It is largely about communication, resolving ambiguity, mitigating risks while executing and getting strong alignment, not just within teams, but aligned in the company as well. We ship as a team, we ship as a company. Which also means, we take into consideration how our work impacts others.

We also maintain a disagree & commit culture. This means, we listen to each other, trust each other, but in cases where we feel there is no clear agreement, we fall back on the chain of command, and once the decision is made, regardless of which option is accepted, the whole team stands behind it, and goes in that direction with the most focus possible.

These can be from small things, to larger ones. We always provide reasoning for our decision, so it’s never a “just because”, but independent from agreeing with this reasoning we expect strong commitment.

Collaboration and alignment, being a team player

Section titled “Collaboration and alignment, being a team player”

We are all in this together. The better we collaborate, the more we achieve.

Every one of us is expected to understand the importance and goal of the piece of work we are executing, and execute accordingly.

We value individual and great ideas & solutions that come from every member of this team, but at the end of the day we ship as a team.

We choose collaborating for a common purpose, rather than pushing individual agendas.

Communication is key. And we communicate with each other clearly and honestly.

We’re a no-blame culture and transparency is essential.

We wish to create an environment where we are comfortable sharing and tackling problems. It’s not a problem if you get stuck somewhere, have challenges or you need help, but failing to communicate this and be honest about it: that is what can cause problems.

Considering today’s ever changing world, and that we move very fast, there are many things that cannot be foreseen. Therefore we do not make lots of promises. Promises are hard work and commitment, and are meant to be taken seriously. So when we do, we make promises for good reasons, and we tend to stick to them.

We are focused, conscious and are quick to read and act on signals of change in order to survive. We understand that what worked yesterday, might not work tomorrow.

We accept that the world is full of uncertainty, ambiguity and constant change.

We have an open mindset to change and doing things in new ways: we are agile, ready to experiment, switch gears and mindset, if that is what help us to thrive.

Passion, commitment, learning and welcoming experimental failures

Section titled “Passion, commitment, learning and welcoming experimental failures”

We don’t give up on the first try, and iterate until we get it right. We don’t shift our strategy every month, but rather focus on the long term. We understand success doesn’t come overnight. We need to reach it inch by inch.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved, and passionate about where we’re going and what we are working on. We’re proud of the product itself as well.

We like taking risks and we’re not afraid to make mistakes

Section titled “We like taking risks and we’re not afraid to make mistakes”

While developing a new feature or service or experimenting with it, if it doesn’t work, that’s okay: that is a good failure. These kinds of failures are welcomed, ones that might hurt of course, but make us better and enable us to learn from them.

Innovation, user first mindset and product focus

Section titled “Innovation, user first mindset and product focus”

Putting our users first helps us understand what their goals are, what they’re struggling with, how we could make their life easier, more successful and more joyful, which gives direction to our thinking in terms of innovation.

Thinking outside of the box, continuous inventing and re-inventing, asking questions, challenging ourselves, pushing our limits, searching for new ways of working and solutions is critical for us to succeed.

It determines how we think about our product and what we focus on: the purpose of innovation and technology should be driving user value. After all, this is our mission statement.

What we’re building is quite complex, and elements connect to each other in unexpected ways. Being able to see the full picture, while drilling down into details is critical.

It is an essential part of creativity and innovation because we need critical thinking to evaluate, improve or drop ideas. It means a problem-and-solution-focused mindset in which we test ideas, possible solutions for errors or drawback. It also means that we go back to the basics and strive to understand the core of the problems itself.
