    Communities

Two related things live here. There are the communities we run ourselves, and the events and causes we put our name to. For a lot of people, one of these is the first contact they ever have with amarti, so they matter as much as any piece of work we ship.

OnPoint, our data podcast, is the biggest of these. Each episode is a conversation with a data or engineering leader about the people, platforms and decisions behind real transformation, usually around half an hour. It is hosted by our co-founders and produced by the marketing team, and you can find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube, with clips on our social channels. Guest ideas and questions go to onpoint@amarti.io.

Big Data Energy is a data community night we host in Leeds: an evening of talks and networking for people who work with data, wherever they work. It is the in-person counterpart to the podcast, and it is fronted by one of our co-founders.

Data Dive runs under the same banner as a shorter, more hands-on data session. It is newer than the other two, so expect the shape of it to keep changing.

We also show up at other people’s events, either as a sponsor or a speaker. Recent examples:

    • Leeds Digital Charity Ball, which we have sponsored, run with Leeds Community Foundation.
    • Agile Yorkshire and the Data Science Festival, where we have spoken.
    • Big Data LDN, the data conference we attend each year.

We are selective about this on purpose. We put our name to events that our own community would want to be at, rather than to as many as possible.

Some of what we support is about the community rather than the industry:

    • We are a partner of Martin House Children’s Hospice, which we raise money for through sponsored rides and runs.
    • We have previously sponsored East Grinstead Town FC, helping fund its junior and disability teams.
    • We have previously sponsored the Leeds Digital Charity Ball, which raises money for local causes.

Our values stand for compassion, connection and commitment: supporting the places, people and communities around us.

There is room for everyone here, and it is one of the easiest ways to represent amarti well.

    • Suggest a guest or a topic for OnPoint at onpoint@amarti.io. A good introduction to someone doing interesting work with data is always welcome.
    • Be a guest. Recording is remote and low-effort: you join from a browser with headphones, we run for about an hour and edit it down, and we send you the clips and assets afterwards. We will do a short test call first if you would like one.
    • Help at an event. Whether that is speaking, hosting a session or helping on the night, the community owner for each event can point you to what is needed.

If you are talking about a guest or a partner in public, keep it to what they are happy to have shared, and check with the person who owns that relationship if you are not sure.
